Emmett Cullen.
Emmett Cullen (born Emmett McCarty) is Rosalie's husband, Carlisle and Esme's adopted son, Edward, Alice, and Jasper's adoptive brother, the brother-in-law of Bella, and Renesmee's uncle. Emmett is described as being tall, burly, extremely muscular, and, to most humans, the most intimidating of his adoptive siblings. He has slightly curly dark hair and dimpled cheeks. Emmett's first appearance was in Twilight.
Emmett was 20 and living in Gatlinburg, Tennessee in 1935 when he was mauled by a bear. The injuries from the attack were severe and he was found by Rosalie Hale, who had been hunting in the area at the time. Rosalie, who was reminded of her friend's baby having the same curls and innocent appearance, carried him over a hundred miles to Appalachia where Carlisle Cullen was, asking him to spare Emmett's life by turning him into a vampire. Emmett joined Carlisle's coven, but had trouble adjusting to the family's diet of animal blood. In Twilight, Emmett is at first wary of Bella, but eventually warms up to her and votes in favor of her becoming a vampire in New Moon.
Kellan Lutz was cast to portray Emmett in the upcoming Twilight film.
Rosalie Hale.
Rosalie Lillian Hale was born in Rochester, NY in 1915. She had two younger brothers, a housewife for a mother, and a father who worked at a bank. Her father's job helped keep the family wealthy during the Great Depression. She was born beautiful and thus was constantly praised, making her vain and conceited, and like her social-climbing parents, wanting more out of life.
One day Rosalie's mother had her dress up to deliver her father's forgotten lunch to him at work, hoping that the son of the bank's owner would take an interest in Rosalie. It worked, and Royce King the Second sent roses to Rosalie and, after making a comment that her eyes were like violets, began sending her those as well. Their relationship was solely based on physical attraction, as Royce was always very busy at the bank. They became engaged, and two months later, just before the wedding, Rosalie visited her good friend Vera, who Rosalie envied for her baby boy, Henry. When she saw Vera's husband kiss Vera, Rosalie finally realized the lack of love in her relationship with Royce, but quickly dismissed it. While walking home, Rosalie stumbled across Royce and his friends, who were all intoxicated. Royce bragged about his fiancée's beauty, leading to Rosalie being beaten and presumably raped.
Rosalie, whom Royce left to die in the streets, was found by Carlisle, who was drawn to her by the scent of her spilled blood. Taking pity on her, he carried her home and made her a vampire. Three days later, Rosalie's unhappy outlook improved when she saw her beautiful reflection in a mirror. She soon avenged herself by killing all those who had hurt her. Having saved Royce for last, Rosalie donned a stolen bridal gown and found her terrified fiancé locked in a windowless room with a thick, vault-like door guarded by two men after hearing of his friends being killed. After killing the guards, Rosalie entered the room and tortured Royce to death. She did not, however, drink his blood, and is proud that she has, as she puts it "almost as clean a record as Carlisle". She later states that the reason that she didn't drink Royce's blood was because she didn't want to have any of him inside her.
While living with the Cullens in Forks, Rosalie plays the role of the twin sister of Jasper Hale (she prefers to use her real last name rather than Cullen). She has a skill for vehicle mechanics and enjoys toying with car parts; she owns a red BMW M3 convertible but usually goes to school in Edward's silver Volvo (as do all of the Cullens) to try and remain inconspicuous.
Carlisle believes that a certain characteristic is intensified once you become a vampire; although Edward tells Bella he thinks Rosalie's characteristic is her tenacity, it is most likely her beauty that had been intensified. She is still regretful of being turned into a vampire, even though it saved her life and lead her to find her true love.
Edward reveals to Bella during Twilight that Rosalie is mean to her because Bella is an outsider, and she is jealous of her being human. Later she tells Bella she was also jealous of her because Edward finds her more attractive than he does Rosalie (not that she is in love with him, just that she is used to being thought of as the most-beautiful). After Alice sees Bella jump off a cliff in the midst of New Moon, Rosalie calls Edward to tell him Bella is dead. She wants only to have her family back together, (Edward spends the majority of his time alone in other continents grieving his loss) but causes Edward to attempt suicide. Alice calls her when she sees Edward dying and Rosalie realizes what she has done. She gets Emmett and goes after her brother until Alice has Jasper stop her. Rosalie apologizes to Edward and Bella in the car after they return from Italy and confesses how horrible she feels. Bella forgives her and later is treated with a smile from the still guilty Rosalie.
While Edward is away on a hunting trip in Eclipse, unable to stop her, Rosalie tells Bella about her life in hopes that Bella might change her mind and stay human. She says that she might even like Bella more if she stays human. However, she still tries to be nicer to Bella. In Breaking Dawn she even offers to do Bella's hair for her wedding. When Bella finds out she is pregnant, she calls Rosalie, knowing she wishes she were human and could have children. Rosalie stays at Bella's side throughout the pregnancy, defending her whenever someone tries to touch her. She refuses to hunt until Edward does, fearing Edward will have Carlisle abort the pregnancy in her absence. Jacob and Edward discuss her motives. Jacob thinks that she doesn't care about Bella's life and only wants the baby to live so she can take it. Edward agrees with him. However, some fans say this is unfair of Meyer, that Rosalie might actually have kinder motives concerning the baby, and that she may actually want the best for Bella and this baby because she is "living through Bella" during this.
She and Jacob share a relationship of constant insults, Blonde jokes from Jacob, Dog insults from Rosalie. Rosalie carves a dog bowl from which Jacob can eat. She tries to preform an emergency c-section on Bella, but loses control and has to be dragged from the room by Alice. After the birth of the baby, Renesmee, she is with her almost all of the time, as is Jacob due to his imprinting causing more bickering between the two, playing the role of her mother while Bella undergoes the transformation into a vampire. When Alice later sees the Volturi attacking, she and Emmett search for nomads to stand as witnesses.
Alice Cullen.
Alice Cullen (born Mary Alice Brandon) is the the adopted daughter of Carlisle and Esme, adopted sister of Edward, Rosalie, and Emmett, the wife of Jasper, Bella's sister-in-law, and Renesmee's aunt. Alice is described as being petite and pixie-like, with a graceful gait and hair that's cropped short, spiky, and black. Her special ability is to see the future, an enhanced version of her ability to have premonitions has a human. However, her ability to limited; she is only able to see the outcome of a decision once it is made. Due to this, decisions made on the spur of the moment can not be foreseen. Alice can see futures involving humans and vampires, though is unable to see the futures werewolves or half-breeds, such as Renesmee, though it is not known why. Alice is portrayed as being bubbly and optimistic, and loves and cares for Bella like a sister. Her hobbies include shopping, make-overs, and throwing parties. Alice's early history is very vague, as she remembers nothing of her human life and woke up as alone as a vampire. It is eventually revealed that she was born around 1901 in Biloxi, Mississippi and was kept in an asylum because she had premonitions. Alice was changed by an old vampire who worked at the asylum in order to protect her from James, a tracker vampire who was hunting her. After doing some research, Alice found her grave and discovered that the date on her tombstone matched the date of her admission to the asylum. Through her research she additionally discovered that she had a little sister named Cynthia, and that Cynthia's daughter, Alice's niece, is still alive in Biloxi.
Throughout Twilight, Alice uses her ability to see the future and help Bella when she is in danger. The two soon become friends, loving each other like sisters. In New Moon, Alice foresees Bella jumping off a cliff and assumes she is trying to commit suicide, though Bella actually was partaking in the cliff diving sport. Rosalie, believing Bella to be dead, informs Edward. After discovering the truth, Alice accmpanies Bella to Italy to save Edward. They are successful, but taken by the Volturi Guard to see Aro, the leader of the Volturi, the police of the vampire world. Through Alice's memories, Aro is able to see that Bella will eventually become a vampire and invites her, Alice, and Edward to stay with them. They all refuse and return back to Forks. In Eclipse, Alice, who proves to be an adept fighter, joins in the fight to destroy a group of rampaging newborn vampires, created by Victoria in an effort to take revenge on Edward. Alice acts as Bella's bridesmaid at her wedding in Breaking Dawn and helps with Renesmee until leaving to search out a crossbreed when the Volturi plans to destroy Renesmee, believing she is an immortal child. Alice successfully brings back one and the Volturi, not seeing a threat, leave.

Jasper Hale.
Jasper Hale (born Jasper Whitlock) is the adopted son of Carlisle and Esme, adopted brother of Edward, Emmett, and Rosalie, husband of Alice, brother-in-law of Bella's, and uncle of Renesmee. As a human, he was described as being extremely charismatic very likable, ascenting through military ranks very quickly. After joining the Cullens, Jasper has a highly analytical and military mindset and often comes out as cold. He is described as tall with blond hair and is muscular but lean. His body is covered with crescent-shaped scars after many years of fighting and training newborn vampires. Due to his past, where he was able to feed on humans, Jasper lacks strong self-control. Jasper's special ability is to affect emotions, riling up vampires before battle and calming others during stress. He is also affected by emotions, and suffered during battles when he could feel human and vampires' fear. Unlike the rest of his family, Jasper notices no variations in blood scent in different humans. Jasper was born in Texas and in 1861, when he was almost seventeen, he lied about his age, stating he was 20, and joined the Confederate States Army to serve in the Civil War. Due to his charisma, he gained ranks quickly. Jasper was turned into a vampire in 1863 by a vampire named Maria when he was 20 years old. Recognizing his high rank in the army, Maria had decided to change him into a vampire to help her claim territory in Mexico City. Jasper's responsibility was to train the young vampires and then kill them when they were no longer useful; about a year after their transformation when their strength began to fade. After about a century of this, he grew weary of the lifestyle, and joined an old friend, Peter, and his mate Charlotte. Jasper left the two eventually, not wanting to live their lifestyle because he could feel the human prey's emotions as they died. Alice, foreseeing that they would be together, was waiting for him in a half-empty diner in Philadelphia. Jasper and Alice, who had seen a vision of them joining the Cullens, sought them out and joined. Jasper took the surname "Hale", as Rosalie had, who lives incognito as her twin brother.
In Twilight, Jasper accompanies Alice and Bella when they are hiding from James. He uses his ability to calm Bella when she is stressed or afraid. He leaves with the rest of the Cullens in New Moon, returning with them at the end. In Eclipse, Jasper teaches the werewolves and vampires fighting techniques to defend them against newborn vampires. In Breaking Dawn, Jasper leaves to Alice to find a vampire-human hybrid, and returns with her to defend Renesmee from the Volturi.

Renesmee Cullen.
Renesmee "Nessie" Carlie Cullen is the half-vampire, half-human daughter of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, first seen in Breaking Dawn. Her name is derived from the amalgamation of the names of Bella's mother, Renée, and Edward's adoptive mother, Esme. Her middle name, Carlie, is a combination of the names Carlisle, Edward's adoptive father, and Charlie, Bella's father. She has the same facial features and hair color as Edward, but the curly hair of her grandfather, Charlie Swan, and the brown eyes of Bella. Jacob Black gave her the nickname "Nessie" because he considers her full name to be a mouthful; by the end of the book, all of the characters have adopted this shortened version. She has pale skin that glows instead of sparkles in the sunlight. Her heart pumps blood, giving her a blush. Renesmee can survive on both blood and human food, but prefers human blood. She does not have venom. Her special abilities are that she is able to send someone a memory by touching their skin, and she can break any mental shield. Renesmee grows at a fast rate, being able to speak only seven days after her birth, and by the end of the book she is able to read, run, hunt, and perform other tasks. She will reach physical maturity after seven years and will then stop aging.
Bella and Edward make love while on their honeymoon, and Bella soon finds herself having emotional swings, peculiar eating habits, and vomiting spells. After realizing that her period is late, and finding a lump in her belly and calling Carlisle, she realizes she is pregnant with Edward's child. The two travel home, where Edward tries convincing her to abort the fetus. Determined to keep it, Bella refuses. It grows at an extremely fast rate and bruises Bella whenever it moves. It rejects human food, so Bella drinks donated hospital blood to survive. Edward is soon able to listen to its thoughts, and he grows to care about it when he realizes that it is fond of both of its parents and is trying not to hurt Bella. Bella goes into a violent labor sooner than expected. She loses massive amounts of blood, which forces Edward to rip the child out of her body and inject her with venom, changing her into a vampire and saving her life. It is soon discovered that Jacob Black has imprinted on Renesmee, and has given her the nickname "Nessie". Irina, a vampire from another coven, sees Renesmee one day and believes she is an "immortal child", a child who had been bitten by a vampire; she informs the Volturi, as immortal children are not allowed to live. Intent on killing Renesmee, the Volturi travel to Forks. However, the Cullen family gathers witnesses from around the world to prove that Renesmee is not an immortal child. Alice brings another half-breed, Nahuel, who explains what he is. No longer seeing Renesmee as a threat, the Volturi leave.
